Revised Southern Pine Values
The design values for all sizes of Southern Pine and Mixed Southern Pine dimension lumber were revised by the Southern Pine Inspection Bureau (SPIB) and become effective June 1, 2013. For more information on this revision, please visit SPIB at this link.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS INSTALLATION WILL OVERWRITE THE PREVIOUS DESIGN VALUES FOR S.PINE AND MIXED S.PINE. As of June 1, 2013, all engineered designs will require the use of these revised strength and stiffness values. If you wish to continue using the old design values for S.Pine and Mixed S.Pine, please refrain from performing the installation at this time.
You require version 9.3 in order to download these new values. You can update your version 9.x with the latest Service Release by clicking here.
- Please ensure that the WoodWorks program is closed
- Download the update (.zip) here and choose « Save » to save it to your Downloads folder or « Save As » to save to another location on your computer.
- Once downloaded, right click on the file WWSSouthernPineDatabase.zip and choose « Extract all » to extract its content

The design values for S.Pine and Mixed S.Pine should now match the AWC Addendum to the NDS Design Values for Wood Construction (2012, 2005 and 2001), released March 2013.
Please note that WoodWorks uses 12″ wide properties as the base strength and applies a size factor (CF) to modify the allowable strength accordingly (e.g. for S.Pine, No.1, 2 x 6: Fb = (1000 psi) x (1.35) = 1350 psi).
If you are experiencing difficulties with the automatic installation of the new files, you can manually copy them in your database folder:
Windows Vista, 7 & 8: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\WoodWorks\CWC\USA\9
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\WoodWorks\CWC\USA\9
