The Role
As the IT Support Specialist – you will be integral part of the IT Team. You will be involved in employee support, planning and implementation of our IT infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Create/maintain user accounts in Active Directory infrastructure and Microsoft 365
- Manage deployment of new software using network deployment tools such as SCCM and PowerShell
- Manage software licensing compliance.
- Onboarding users: Setup and deploy computers and accessories to new staff, train new staff on IT policies and available tools.
- Offboarding users: Rebuild existing computers and shutdown user accounts.
- Develop and execute, training/coaching sessions.
- Maintain all user/departmental access to various files/folders on our file server as well as Teams and SharePoint
- Maintain IT hardware asset database including mobile equipment policy and required updates to signed user forms.
- Diagnose and recommend solutions for hardware and software problems.
- Manage and maintain anti-virus and other measures, to keep servers and clients secure from intrusion.
- Develop manuals, procedures, and documentation.
- Other duties as required.
Skills and Knowledge
- College/University diploma in Information Technology or computer-related program
- 3+ years of experience in the IT support role
- Ability to provide Level 1 and Level 2 IT support in a Microsoft environment.
- Understanding of Microsoft Networks critical component (Active directory, DNS, DHCP, Windows Server)
- A good understanding of Microsoft 365 user applications (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Forms, PowerPoint)
- A good understanding of Microsoft 365 admin applications (M365 Admin console, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, AAD, Intune)
- Knowledge in deploying applications and updates using tools such as MS Endpoint Configuration Manager (aka SCCM)
- A good understanding of IT security
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently, and with a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Assets
- Understand French
- Level 3 IT support experience
- Knowledge of various Cloud services on Azure and AWS (Storage, Servers)
- Experience with PowerShell
- Web Server technologies (IIS and/or Linux based)
- Experience with WordPress and/or other web content management systems.

Position Overview
You are an environmental professional with a proactive personality that takes ownership for your work, aspiring to use your expertise in a dynamic organization committed to making a big impact in the market. If you are the successful candidate of this job posting, you will initially report to the “Senior Director – Codes and Standards. This position is designed as part of our succession planning for the Director role. The successful candidate needs to have the ability, interest, and business acumen to grow in a senior leadership role.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for strategic building code and standards initiatives related to sustainability and the forest products industry. Work will revolve around carbon accounting, LCA, EPDs, circular economy, energy performance of buildings, building science, and durability while also considering resiliency.
- Developing new design tools and content for publications and delivery of end products through seminars and media to targeted audiences including engineers, architects, building officials and builders.
Competencies
- Ability to apply your excellent understanding of sustainability and environmental issues, including carbon accounting, LCA and EPD metrics, and the circular economy, with your knowledge of wood as a building material.
- A strong understanding of wood building construction, including light frame and mass timber, as well as an understanding of other construction types and materials including concrete and steel.
- Graduate-level degree in ‘Environmental Studies’, ‘Environment and Sustainability’, ‘Natural Resources and Environmental Studies’, ‘Environmental Design’, or ‘Environmental Engineer’ (or equivalent), or an undergraduate degree with appropriate experience.
Important Skills
To succeed as the Manager Sustainability and within the Codes and Engineering team you will have:
- A science-based understanding of the environmental impact of material and energy flows and product systems.
- Related experience in structural engineering, architecture, building science, or construction.
- An understanding of the material and behavioral properties of wood
- Experience with the codes or standards development process (examples: NBC, NECB, ASTM, ISO, CSA).
- Experience, accreditation, and/or familiarity with green building assessment and whole-building LCA tools.
- Understanding of issues related to the forest carbon cycle, biodiversity, and ecosystem services.
- Strong communication skills both written and oral in English.
- An ability to work in French (an asset).
